The earlier scheduled scouting session of the Distinction Football Academy, Abuja was held on Sunday 17th of July, 2022 at the Abuja Old Parade Ground Stadium.
A friendly match was played by the academy’s talented squad in front of several professional football scouts from Sweden and super football agent and talent spotter Mr. Kingsley Amunike (the younger brother of Former Super Eagles left wing wizard Emmanuel Amunike).
The academy’s Director of Media and Strategy, Mr. Akan Aquaisua, explained to newsmen at the venue that the purpose of the session was to showcase the talents of a squad of young players selected from all over the country to scouts from Europe with a view to get them placements at foreign clubs.
Head of the European scouting team, Mr. Pedro Baptize, could not hide his excitement at the talents on show, ” We are very pleased that our trip to Africa was not in vein, this boy(Sylvester) is a prospect, as well as several others we have seen, we hope to have a good discussion with the academy and hopefully a deal for some of the boys.
I and my partners have always known that Nigeria has huge talents in sports and when we were invited by the academy we saw an opportunity to shop for more talents from Africa’s giant and we are satisfied and hope to partner with Nigerians going forward.”
Coach Charles Ohaji reiterated the academy’s commitment to youth development in sports as a way to lift many from poverty to wealth and physical well being.
Ohaji stated that ” the academy’s vision is to help as many kids as possible get a lucrative career in football while being well disciplined and grounded individuals, this he believes will help solve youth restiveness and help bring much needed hope to others.”
He praised the academy’s Coach Mr. Raphael Unamba for a good job preparing the boys for the scouting session, they have worked so hard these past few weeks and really got the boys to top form and fitness.
Coach Unamba thanked Aircovermedia, Liberty TV Abuja and several other news agencies who were on ground to cover the event, for their patience and even under a light rain shower covered the session superbly.
He called on parents and guardians to enroll their wards in the academy this coming holiday season and see a sharp development in their skills, “whether you like it or not these kids will always play football in school, at home and anywhere there is a football!
So why not give them a structured training with our kids holiday camp.”
