Emmanuel Benjamin, known by his stage name Eben, is a Nigerian gospel singer, vocalist, songwriter, and worship leader. He was born on September 9, 1979, in Lagos State, Nigeria, the fifth of six children in a Christian household. Eben began his musical journey in 1997 under the mentorship of his older brother as a rapper but soon discovered his gift for singing. He gained early prominence in 2005 during a youth conference organized by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome when his powerful performance of “Imaranma” captured the audience’s attention.
Eben launched his recording career in 2007 with his debut album On the Rock, featuring hits like “Imaranma,” “God Dey,” and “I Don Hammer.” He followed up with acclaimed albums like Phenomenon (2010), Justified (2013), Victory (2017), and Magnified, solidifying his position in the gospel genre. In 2010, he founded the record label Hammer House of Rock, expanding into music and video production, event management, and interior design through its business arm, Hammer House Ventures. Eben is married to fellow gospel singer Grace “Jahdiel” Okoduwa Benjamin; they tied the knot on November 30, 2013, and have three children together. He has received numerous awards—including the LIMA Award for Male Vocalist and Songwriter of the Year (2020)—and continues to lead worship and mentor upcoming gospel artists.
