Michael Olayinka Abdul, popularly known as Mike Abdul, is a celebrated Nigerian gospel singer, music producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Born on February 12, 1977, in Lagos State, Nigeria, he hails from Ijebu-Ode in Ogun State. Mike Abdul is widely recognized for his significant contributions to the AfroGospel genre, seamlessly blending traditional Nigerian rhythms, including Fuji, Highlife, and Apala, with contemporary gospel melodies. He gained initial prominence as a co-founder of “The Midnight Crew,” a renowned gospel group established in 2001, famous for their hit song “Igwe.”
After the Midnight Crew members decided to pursue solo careers in 2011, Mike Abdul launched his successful solo journey in 2013 with songs like “Morire.” He is the founder and CEO of Spaghetti Records, a prominent record label that has nurtured many gospel talents. His discography includes acclaimed albums like Good 2 Go, Korede, and Grateful, and he is regarded as one of the most featured Nigerian gospel musicians. He has received numerous awards, including the 2018 City People Music Award for Gospel Artist of the Year.
