Tamela Jean Mann (née Johnson), known professionally as Tamela Mann, is a Grammy Award-winning American gospel singer and actress. She was born on June 9, 1966, in Fort Worth, Texas. She is married to actor David Mann, and together they have four children and co-own their own record label and production company.
Tamela Mann’s music is in the Gospel, Contemporary Gospel, and Soul genres. She is celebrated for her powerful soprano voice and deeply spiritual music. She began her career as a member of the iconic gospel group Kirk Franklin and the Family before launching her successful solo career. Her work is known for its ability to touch listeners on a deep emotional level, with hit songs like the platinum-certified single “Take Me to the King” and the Grammy-winning “God Provides.” Her album Best Days was also named the Gospel Album of the Decade by Billboard.
In 2005, Tamela and her husband David Mann founded their own label, Tillymann Music Group, through which they have released her solo projects.
