William Henry Murphy III, known professionally as William Murphy, is an American gospel recording artist, pastor, and bishop. Born on August 2, 1973, in Detroit, Michigan, he comes from a lineage of preachers, with both his father and grandfather serving as pastors. He started his music career in 2005 with the release of All Day. Beyond his musical endeavors, he is the founder and lead pastor of The dReam Center Church of Atlanta. He is married to Danielle Murphy.
William Murphy’s music predominantly falls under the Gospel, Black Gospel, Christian R&B, and Worship genres, often blending traditional gospel sounds with contemporary influences. Throughout his career, he has released music on various labels, including Epic Records, Central South, Verity Records, Motown Gospel, and has been associated with RCA Inspiration. He is widely recognized for popular worship anthems such as “Praise Is What I Do,” which was first recorded by Shekinah Glory Ministry before he included it on his debut album.
