In April 2022, officers from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission captured Pascal Okechukwu, commonly known as Cubana Chief Priest, a renowned Instagram personality (EFCC).

The EFCC detained Mr Okechukwu at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Wednesday, according to a report published by PREMIUM TIMES on Sunday.

Mr Okechukwu was arrested at the airport while attempting to board a flight to Owerri, the capital of Imo State, according to individuals who begged not to be identified because they did not have clearance to speak publicly about the subject.

“In Abuja, we have a well-known Instagram socialite in our custody.” Cubana Chief Priest is his name. He was apprehended on his way to Owerri on Wednesday in Abuja, according to a source.

The socialite was last seen in public on Tuesday, when he was photographed at Abuja’s Moshood Abiola National Stadium during a FIFA World Cup qualification match between Ghana and Nigeria.

Because of his days-long absence on Instagram, many of his supporters who were uninformed of his imprisonment were concerned about his location.

On Saturday, his reluctance to respond to birthday greetings that continued to pour in on his Instagram page added to his fans’ anxieties about his location.

The 41-year-old socialite’s modest birthday on Saturday contrasts with the lavish birthday parties he had last year, which included several well-known celebrities in attendance and a N1 million giveaway to his Instagram followers.

Mr Okechukwu was tailed and monitored by a team of EFCC officers at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Tuesday, according to multiple individuals acquainted with the situation.

“Our officers had dispatched a team to the national stadium in Abuja, where he was with his buddies, led by an investigator in charge of the case.” His movements were closely tracked.

“After the football match, we received word that Mr Cubana Chief Priest would be leaving the FCT.” One of the informants added, “We picked him up from there at the airport.”

According to sources, detectives have requested that the commission get a warrant to hold Mr Okechuwkwu in custody.

Mr Okechukwu was apprehended after allegedly refusing to honor repeated EFCC invitations, according to this newspaper.

“We requested an arrest warrant to detain him (Cuban Chief Priest) in our custody because he has refused to accept our invites.”

“We’d keep him here with us to prevent him from tampering with evidence,” a source added. “He can also answer several questions about the evidence we have against him.”
