We all have noticed a rebrand in the powerhouse music record label, Mavin. The record label which has maintained its spot as one of the most influential imprints in the Nigerian music industry, has had several stars in and out. And that’s what they do, they pass through.

Artists Signed Into Mavin Records

At the moment, there’s a choice of young talented music stars with promising future. Don Jazzy’s label, Mavin Records, is a powerhouse in the music industry, no cap. A formidable force to reckon with, the label was created in 2012 after the unfortunate Mo’hit split.

Don Jazzy has been the one holding things up ever since it began. Mavin Records’ artists used to include . Tiwa Savage, Reekado Banks, Korede Bello, Dr Sid, Iyanya, and Di’ja who have since exited the record label.

We bring you the faces of Mavin record at the moment. This are artists who are rebranding the label and taking it to the next level.

NB: This is an official list and every other person not on this list (including DNA, Korede Bello, and Ruger) don’t have recording contracts with Mavin Records.

Don Jazzy

Don Jazzy

Here comes the boss himself, the visionary brain behind this strong music record label in Nigeria. Don Jazzy will always be at Mavin whether he releases a single or not. He hardly releases songs except for the times he occasionally does collaboration with other artists.

As of the time of writing this article, Mavin Records is trending for their new song ‘Overdose.’

Johnny Drille

Johnny Drille

Johnny Drille has also been apart of the label for quite a while too, making tremendous waves. Although, Drille doesn’t really get much of the hype at Mavin but he’s a good multi-talented star and Don Jazzy seems to like him.

Johnny Drille is a talent and also has some production credits on some of the other Mavin artists’ songs. Keep watching out for more from this star.

Rema

Probably the most important player in Mavin’s current list at the moment, Rema was signed to D Prince’s Jonzing World, but also has a deal with Mavin as well.

He is Don Jazzy’s main man and has been for the last three years. With his debut album making waves, Don Jazzy would not want to lose him anytime soon. His contribution to the music group so far cannot be over emphasize. Keep watching out for more from this star.

Ayra Starr

The 20-year-old female star has only been here for about a year and a half and is already one of the top artists in the country. A talented hitmaker and powerful vocalist, Ayra Starr is not only one of the hottest female artists in Nigeria right now, but she’s also doing enough to go toe-to-toe with her male counterparts. Keep watching out for more from this star because it seems she’s regrading the music industry with her talent.

Ladipoe

When Don Jazzy signed Ladipoe some years back, he was the only rapper on the label and today, he still is. But that doesn’t seem to make any difference because when it comes to hits, he’s been pretty all right.

Ladipoe had a Song of the Year in “Feeling” last year and with his “Providence” project, he’s proven that he could do a lot more.

Magixx

Magixx is Mavin’s unlikely underdog who Don Jazzy signed last year. Even though he doesn’t have an A-list persona like Rema, Magixx is actually pretty good.

His song, “Love Don’t Cost A Dime” has turned out to be quite the hit, and Magixx’s place in the record label cannot be overemphasized.

Crayon

Crayon

Crayon doesn’t also seem to get much of the hype at Mavin, and has been on the sidelines for quite some time now. He has released two EP’s, one in 2019 and another in 2021. He is currently gaining momentum after his recent work on “Overdose.”

Boy Spyce

Boy Spyce

Boy Spyce happens to be the latest signee to Mavin Records. He was discovered by Don Jazzy on social media after his impressive cover of trending songs such as Essence by Wizkid blew the internet. With his EP being one of 2022’s better projects, he’s already a sensation. Keep watching out for more from this music star.

Meet DJ Big N, the official DJ of the label

DJ Big N

The official DJ of the record label, Nonso Temisan Ajufo represents the label on deejaying fronts, once touring the US with Tiwa Savage who was a former member of the label.

1. Peter Tega Oghenejobo

COO of Mavin, Tega

Peter Tega Oghenejobo, is the Chief Operating Officer of Mavin record, making it easy for Don Jazzy the CEO, to take out time to produce for his artistes, sing with other artists, etc because he has a reliable hands on which he can leave the daily administrative business of running Mavin to.

2. Tunji Afonja

Tunji works works with Mavin Record as the chief digital officer, providing digital strategy, technology advice and all-round internet-based solutions.

3. Rima Tahini

Director of A&R, Rima

A Sierra Leonian, Tahini straddles several worlds as she’s also in the creative world, working in the capacity of Director of A&R at Mavin Global while being a senior associate at Kupanda Capital as well.

Mavin Records

Mavin Records (also known as the Supreme Mavin Dynasty) is a Nigerian music corporation record label discovered by record producer and recording artist Don Jazzy on 8 May 2012. The idea of Mavin Records became a reality after the closure of Mo’ Hits Records, a record label owned by the Don Jazzy and D’banj.

The label is home to famous recording artists such as Korede Bello, Dr SID, D’Prince, Di’Ja, Johnny Drille, Ladipoe, DNA Twins, Rema, Ayra Starr, Magixx & Boy Spyce. It also houses producers such as Jazzy himself, Altims and Baby Fresh.

In 2014, DJ Big N became the label’s official disc jockey. Tiwa Savage, Wande Coal, Reekado Banks and Iyanya were all formerly signed to the label. On 8 May 2012, the label released its compilation album Solar Plexus.

In January 2019, Mavin Records secured a multi-million dollar investment from Kupanda Holdings, a subsidiary of Kupanda Capital and TPG Growth.

Although Godywn worked with Don Jazzy and Di’Ja, he is not signed to Mavin Records.
