Rachael Tabuno Oniga popularly known simply as Rachael Oniga, was born in Lagos State, Nigeria, on May 23, 1957, to parents who were from the hamlet of Eku, which is a part of the Ethiope East local government area of Delta State. She was a well-known actress in Nollywood.

Rachael attended Abule-Oja Elementary School in Lagos for her primary schooling but Edo State for her secondary education. She claimed that her father removed her from secondary school in Lagos and transported her to Edo because she was a typical tomgirl who was constantly fighting.
He did that to make her feel better. She believed that being removed from her childhood playmates and pals, who were largely boys, was a heartbreaking experience for her.


After completing her secondary schooling, she travelled back to Lagos to further her studies by studying computer programming. She spent some time working at the Dutch Consultant Company Asoline Nigeria Limited after graduating.

After divorcing her spouse in 1993, Rachael started acting professionally. Oniga worked for a brief while at the Dutch Consultant Company Ascoline Nigeria Limited before making her significant acting debut in Nollywood with “Onome.”
Her perseverance in the profession had been driven by her passion and love for hard work. Despite not being Yoruba by birth, she possessed a special talent that allowed her to land Yoruba movie parts. Her adaptability was undoubtedly something to appreciate. Her first significant performance was as a patient in the soap opera “Memorial Hospital.”
She rose to fame thanks to her performance in the Yoruba film “Boorepo.” She had since appeared in numerous other films.
