Taiwo Awoniyi Early Life
Taiwo was raised in Ilorin, where he received his basic education, and was born to Mr. Solomon Awoniyi, a retired police officer. He studied at GDSS Airport in Ilorin, where he received his diploma in 2010. Taiwo acquired a strong interest in football at a young age and opted to pursue a career as a professional player against his parents’ wishes for him to become a doctor of medicine.
His father used to hit the striker because he wanted to stop him from playing football. He finally joined in the Imperial Soccer Academy in Ogun state, where he eventually graduated in 2012, following many arguments with his parents. He participated in the Nigerian National U-15 squad and competed at the Copa Coca-Cola tournament in London.

Taiwo Awoniyi Career
Awoniyi gained notoriety at the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup. He was a member of the Nigerian side that won the competition in the United Arab Emirates, in large part due to his four goals.
The prolific striker scored the game’s only two goals as Uruguay was defeated in the quarterfinals, and then he scored an important first goal against Sweden in the next round. The former Imperial Academy superstar played every minute of a 3-0 victory over Mexico despite not recording a goal in the championship game.
Two years later, with the team, he only advanced to the round of 16 in the U20 World Cup, but Awoniyi once more demonstrated his potential. The youthful forward scored twice against Hungary in a group-stage victory before Germany eliminated his nation. The team won the U-20 African Championship the year before that.
With a growing reputation gained from his achievements with Nigeria’s youth international teams, Taiwo joined Liverpool in August 2015. His initial exposure to European football came in Germany since, after joining Liverpool, he promptly left for a loan stint with second-tier FSV Frankfurt to get first-team experience.
The Kwara-born star was back on the road in August 2016 when he signed a season-long loan agreement with NEC Nijmegen in the Netherlands. He scored three goals during that time. Awoniyi relocated to Royal Excel Mouscron in Belgium for the duration of the 2017–2018 season after signing a third consecutive arrangement of the same kind.
