E-40, born Earl Tywone Stevens on November 15, 1967, in Vallejo, California, is a pioneering figure in West Coast hip-hop. He began his music career in the late 1980s as a member of the rap group The Click, which included his siblings and cousin.
In 1990, he founded Sick Wid It Records, an independent label that became instrumental in promoting Bay Area rap artists.
E-40’s unique slang, rapid-fire delivery, and entrepreneurial spirit have solidified his status as a hip-hop icon. His 1995 solo album, In a Major Way, brought him national attention, and he achieved further success with the 2006 hit single “Tell Me When to Go,” produced by Lil Jon.
Over his career, E-40 has released 27 studio albums, collaborated with numerous artists, and ventured into business endeavors, including a line of wines and spirits. He continues to influence the music industry with his innovative approach and dedication to his craft.
