The Band FRA!, often stylized as FRA!, is a Ghanaian music band known for its vibrant and eclectic sound. The name “FRA” is derived from the Akan language, meaning “mix,” which reflects the diverse musical backgrounds and influences of its members. The band was founded in 2015 by a group of six friends from Ghana. They initially started as a cover band, performing at various shows and concerts, before deciding to go professional and create their unique blend of music. The Band FRA! is on a mission to revive Ghana’s rich band culture and promote authentic Highlife music globally, drawing inspiration from legendary Ghanaian bands like Osibisa.

The Band FRA!’s music primarily encompasses Afrobeat, Highlife, Afro-funk, Afropop, Indie Rock, Soul, Jazz, and Pop, creating danceable and feel-good music. The core members of the band include Christian Osele (lead vocals), Joshua “Virgen” Boateng (drums, lead vocals), George Gogoe Ashirifie (bass, backing vocals), Emmanuel Selorm Dornyoh (guitar, backing vocals), Ishmael “Ayala” Kugblenu (percussion, backing vocals), and Martin Nyarkotey Adjartey (keyboards, backing vocals). Their discography includes albums like FRA!ternity (2018), Journey (2019), and Chale Wote (2023), alongside numerous singles. They have performed across Europe, Morocco, Uganda, and Zanzibar, gaining international recognition, including winning a contest organized by Casa Africa that led to a tour of Spain in 2019, and performing at the World Music Expo (WOMEX) in Lisbon in 2022. The band partners with Walboomers Music for releases.
