Tasha Layton (born October 27, 1982) is an American contemporary Christian music singer, songwriter, and author. Originally from Pauline, South Carolina, she embarked on a diverse musical journey, including an appearance on American Idol Season 9 and a four-year stint as a background vocalist for pop superstar Katy Perry, performing globally and contributing to productions for Disneyland and Cirque du Soleil. After feeling a call to focus on Christian music, she moved to Nashville. Tasha Layton is married to musician and producer Keith Everette Smith, who is also a member of TobyMac’s Diverse City band, and they have two children.
Layton’s music primarily falls under the Contemporary Christian Music and Pop genres, often infused with elements of Gospel. She is signed to BEC Recordings. Her breakthrough came with her 2020 single “Into the Sea (It’s Gonna Be OK),” followed by hits like “Look What You’ve Done” and “How Far,” both of which reached number one on Christian radio charts.
