Kevin Michael McKeehan, famously known as TobyMac (styled as tobyMac), is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He was born on October 22, 1964, in Fairfax, Virginia. TobyMac is a highly influential figure in Christian music, first rising to prominence as a founding member of the groundbreaking Christian rap-rock trio DC Talk, which was active from 1987 until their hiatus in 2000. He then launched a hugely successful solo career. He has been married to Amanda Levy since 1994, and they have five children.
TobyMac’s music spans a diverse range of genres including Christian Hip Hop, Christian Rock, Pop, R&B, and Funk. Throughout his solo career, he has released numerous chart-topping albums, with each of his first six studio solo projects achieving Gold certification. He is signed to ForeFront Records, an imprint of Universal Music Group, and also has associations with Capitol Christian Music Group and Essential Music Publishing. Additionally, TobyMac is a co-founder of Gotee Records, a Christian hip-hop label established in 1994.
