Fortunately, Ramsey’s supporters have defended her, calling out the insensitive netizens who’ve posted mean comments about the teenager’s face. @elenasghost tweeted:
“People commenting on Bella Ramsey’s face are disgusting to me. She’s a very talented actor and as pretty as a teenager who plays A CHILD can be!”

Bella Ramsey struggled mentally due to her anorexia nervosa diagnosis
Bella Ramsey tweeted in October 2018 that physicians diagnosed her with anorexia nervosa in 2017 but that she had been suffering from the disease since 2016.
Anorexia nervosa, according to the Cleveland Clinic, is a potentially lethal eating disorder characterized by “extreme food restriction and an intense fear of gaining weight.” People suffering from the disease may overwork or expel their food. Anorexia, if left untreated, can lead to starvation, health problems, and death.
Doctors, according to Ramsey, were unable to pinpoint the event that precipitated the eating issue. She went on to say:
“There isn’t always an answer but let me tell you this – there’s always a way out. There’s always light at the end of the tunnel no matter how dim it might seem. I am fortunate to have reached that light, at moments it felt nonexistent. But it was always there.”
Ramsey said that she overcame anorexia nervosa through her religious faith and support from her family.
Ramsey’s experience inspired her to become a mental health advocate. In December 2019, she announced that she’d become an ambassador for YoungMinds, a mental health charity for young people.
“As lots of you know, I am passionate about talking about mental health and destroying the stigma surrounding it,” she wrote on Instagram.
Ramsey told Elle about her decision to depart The Worst Witch in January 2023. People incorrectly assumed she left the show to focus on her mental health, her. However, by the time she departed the series, she had already resolved her mental health difficulties. She elaborated:
“I would say the more accurate description is that by that point, I had resolved many of my mental health issues.” Then the thought occurred to me, ‘I’m not going to do this fourth season because it’s not worth it because I’m in a better place now.'”
