The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has successfully recovered over N9 billion owed to the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF). This significant achievement was highlighted during a recent courtesy visit by NLTF’s Executive Secretary/CEO, Tosin Adeyanju, to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja.
Adeyanju praised the EFCC’s Chairman for his leadership and the successful recovery of the funds, which will support the federal government’s initiatives in enhancing social and physical infrastructure across Nigeria. He emphasized that this recovery was a major milestone for the NLTF and has significantly improved the remittances from lottery operators.
He also commended the EFCC’s overall performance, noting that within the past ten months, the commission has recovered over N200 billion and $58 million in looted funds. Adeyanju expressed gratitude for the integrity and effectiveness of the EFCC under its current leadership.
EFCC Chairman, Olukoyede, acknowledged Adeyanju’s commendations and highlighted the importance of maintaining trust and transparency in handling recovered funds. He advised Adeyanju to exercise caution and diligence in managing the Trust Fund’s resources, emphasizing the importance of accountability and proper oversight.
Olukoyede assured continued collaboration between the EFCC and NLTF in recovering debts and emphasized that the EFCC’s mandate is to recover funds for the government and relevant agencies. He reaffirmed the EFCC’s commitment to supporting government agencies in their efforts to recover funds and fulfill their responsibilities.
