APC Unveils Okada Riders’ Leader as Candidate for Irepodun LGA Election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State has announced Abdulazeez Jimoh, the leader of the commercial motorcycle (okada) riders association, as its candidate for the upcoming local council election in Irepodun Local Government Area (LGA) scheduled for September 21. The announcement was made during the party’s campaign flag-off in Irepodun LGA.

Abdulazeez Jimoh, a seasoned politician and community leader, has previously served as a councillor, the council’s vice chairman, and the APC chairman in the area. His candidacy was endorsed by several party chieftains and government officials, including the Commissioner for Information, Bola Olukoju, at an event held in Omu-Aran.

The Director General of Jimoh’s campaign, Prof. Bashir Ibrahim, highlighted his extensive experience and service to the community. “APC is committed to presenting the best candidate for the area,” Ibrahim said, describing Jimoh as a “tested and trusted indigene of Omu-Aran with an impressive record of service.”

Prof. Ibrahim, a retired lecturer from the Department of History and International Relations at the University of Ilorin, emphasized that Abdulazeez is the ideal candidate to foster prosperity in Irepodun LGA and secure an electoral win for the APC. He also noted that Jimoh had served as the Chief Whip during his tenure as a councillor.

In his remarks to journalists, Abdulazeez Jimoh acknowledged the challenging economic conditions but expressed confidence in his ability to navigate them effectively during the election campaign. “The tough economy will not affect me and my team because elections are no longer determined solely by party affiliation but by individual popularity and trust,” he asserted.

Olushola Odetunde, the representative of Irepodun Constituency in the State Assembly, echoed this sentiment, stating that all APC candidates would perform well in the upcoming election due to the state government’s commendable achievements. “The state government has exceeded expectations, and this will reflect in the election results,” Odetunde added.

APC chieftain Ibrahim Adedoyin also voiced strong support for Jimoh’s candidacy, citing the party’s historical electoral success in the state. “APC has never lost in this state,” Adedoyin said, attributing this to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s extensive developmental projects across Kwara State. “The governor’s record of infrastructural development will secure our victory, as the people are eager to show their appreciation by voting for the APC,” he concluded.
