The Katsina State Police Command has reported the neutralization of two suspected kidnappers and the rescue of five victims in Malumfashi Local Government Area. The incidents occurred on August 25 and were marked by intense police operations against armed bandits.

According to ASP Abubakar Aliyu, the command’s spokesperson, the first incident took place around 5:40 p.m. when a distress call was received at the Malumfashi Divisional Police Headquarters. The call reported that armed bandits, riding on 12 motorcycles and wielding dangerous weapons, were attacking Marabar Kankara village. The bandits took advantage of a heavy downpour to carry out their attack.

In response, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Malumfashi quickly mobilized a team of operatives to the scene. The police engaged the bandits in a fierce gunfight, successfully repelling the attack. During the aftermath, the bodies of two neutralized suspected bandits were recovered from the scene. The police operatives countered the attack effectively, leading to the successful rescue of all five kidnapped victims, who were unharmed. The assailants, injured in the exchange of gunfire, fled the scene.
