Obinna Onuoha, a businessman had a dream in 1997 to build a giant status for Jesus. The tallest statue of Jesus in Africa began construction in 2013. Three years later, the statue stands in St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Abajah village in Imo state.

The statue was made of white marble and it is 8.53 metres (28.0 ft) tall and weighs 40 tons. The largest statue of Jesus in the world is the Christ the King statue found in Poland. It is 108 ft.
