Nigerian Army Troops Neutralize Terrorist, Recover Weapons in Kaduna State
Troops of the I Division Nigerian Army have successfully neutralized a terrorist and recovered various weapons and equipment in Kaduna State. The operation occurred on August 25 in the general areas of Sabon Birni, Dogon Dawa, Maidaro, Ngede Alpha, and Rafin Kaji.
According to a statement from the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Lt.-Col. Musa Yahaya, the troops engaged with terrorist elements during clearance operations. The confrontation resulted in the neutralization of one terrorist, with others fleeing with suspected gunshot injuries.
The recovery from the operation included:
- Four AK-47 magazines (three fully loaded with a total of 60 x 7.62mm Special ammunition and one empty magazine)
- A PKT belt with 86 rounds of ammunition
- Two motorcycles (one of which was destroyed)
- A Techno mobile phone
- A Baofeng Handheld Radio
- An Airtel recharge card worth N5,000
Maj.-Gen. Mayirenso Saraso, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) I Division and Commander of “Operation WHIRL PUNCH,” praised the troops for their successful operation. He encouraged them to intensify efforts and make life difficult for terrorists, insurgents, and their collaborators in the Division’s Area of Responsibility.
The GOC also thanked the residents of Kaduna, Kano, Niger, and Jigawa States for their ongoing cooperation. He urged them to use the division’s Toll-Free Line “0800 002 0204” to provide actionable intelligence and support the Division’s efforts against criminal elements.
