An autopsy found that actor Ray Liotta died of cardiovascular illness last year. One year after the \”Goodfellas\” actor died in his sleep while filming \”Dangerous Waters\” in the Dominican Republic, officials confirmed on Monday that the 67-year-old died of atherosclerotic disease, which is the accumulation of fats, cholesterol, and other substances in and on the artery walls.

Officials blamed his death on pulmonary edema, a condition caused by too much fluid in the lungs, as well as heart and respiratory failure.

Jennifer Allen, the actor\’s publicist, confirmed to CBS News that Liotta died in his sleep.
\”Based on the post-mortem signs, death could have occurred approximately 8-10 hours earlier at the time the body was removed and the autopsy was performed on May 26, 2022, at 03:22 p.m.,\” Dominican officials said.
Liotta is best recognized for his portrayal as Henry Hill in Martin Scorsese\’s iconic 1990 gangster picture \”Goodfellas,\” in which he co-starred with Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci.

Liotta has recently been in a number of notable movie pictures, including \”Marriage Story,\” \”Killing Them Softly,\” \”The Place Beyond the Pines,\” and \”The Many Saints of Newark,\” a \”Sopranos\” prequel.
