Early Life

Jeffries was born in New York City, at Brooklyn Hospital Center to Laneda Jeffries, a social worker, and Marland Jeffries, a state substance-abuse counselor. He grew up in Crown Heights, Brooklyn and his heritage traces back to Virginia, Georgia, Maryland, and Cape Verde.

People became so interested in Jeffries as an American politician. He served as a U.S. representative representing the 8th congressional district of New York starting in 2013. He has presided over the House Democratic Caucus since 2019. He represents eastern Brooklyn and southwest Queens in New York City.

It was on 3 January, 2019, that Hakeem Jeffries was selected to head the House Democratic Caucus. On January 3, 2017, Hakeem Jeffries was named Co-Chair of the House Democratic Policy and Communications Committee. He retired from that position on January 3, 2019, to become the House Democratic Caucus leader.

Just I we said earlier, January 3, 2013, was when Hakeem Jeffries was chosen to represent the 8th district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives. From January 1st, 2007, to December 31st, 2012, Hakeem Jeffries represented the 57th district in the New York State Assembly.
