August Alsina is no stranger to making news. There was his romance with Jada Pinkett Smith, his strange and violent encounter with Tory Lanez, and now The Luv This Shit singer has revealed his new love, who also happens to be a man.
Alsina appeared on VH1’s Surreal Life when he confessed to his boo in a confessional. “Love showed up, but in a new way,” he intimated before launching into a lengthy rant about the multiple definitions of love.
“I want to share that in order to truly honor the person I love, who loves me back and who is teaching me so much about love and healing.”
I want to do that in front of the world because it defies all of the constructs one would say love is supposed to be or love should look like.”
Later, a man comes in the scene and the two exchange a hug. Alsina is currently trending on Twitter, with supporters hailing her for allegedly coming out.
Other fans pointed out that the man in the confessional has been referred to as Alsina’s “brother.” While it’s unclear whether the two are related, Alsina’s explanation suggests they have a loving relationship.
