Who was Notti Osama?
Osama was a drill rapper from Yonkers, New York, who was 14 years old. He was the youngest of six children, and after hearing the news of his passing, his brother DD Osama paid him tribute on social media.

Osama, whose real name is Ethan Reyes, had relocated to Yonkers’ Young Avenue with his family. He may have started fighting because of drill rapping, a style of rap in which competitors are insulted and teased.
What happened to Notti Osama?
On July 9, 2022, Osama was fatally stabbed at a Manhattan subway station following a brawl. According to sources, around 3 pm that day at the station, the 14-year-old got into a fight with a rival who was 15 years old.
Although the cause of the altercation has not been made public, it is obvious that the youngsters were at odds.
The event was captured on camera, and police discovered a knife and a broomstick at the crime scene. Osama passed suddenly at Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital following the tragic stabbing.

Osama and two of his pals reportedly saw Martinez as they were out walking in Hamilton Heights. After snatching up a broom, Osama entered the metro station with the accused. After being forced into a corner and being struck with a broom, Martinez pulled out a knife and stabbed Osama in the abdomen.
Despite being taken to the hospital immediately when the cops discovered Osama bleeding from the stomach, he was later declared dead.

A knife and broomstick were discovered by the police at the crime scene, and the security camera footage helped the authorities identify the perpetrator.
The street fight that escalated into the unfortunate stabbing and murder caused a wave of shock and sadness among people as they grieved the life of a teenager who was just beginning to start his career in rap.
Who was charged for Notti Osama’s murder?
Police detained Kelvin Martinez, 15, and accused him of first-degree manslaughter and unlawful possession. When it was out that Osama had cornered Martinez and threatened him with a broomstick, the accusations against him that had originally been made against him for second-degree murder were dropped.
His stab wounds were treated at the New York Presbyterian Hospital when he was transported there. The Manhattan District Attorney’s office said that Martinez and Osama were “associates of rival gangs.”
MTA NYC Transit President Richard Davey issued a statement in which he said, “We thank NYPD detectives, with whom we cooperated, for the rapid arrest of a suspect.”
The fact that he and the victim are alleged to have known one another only emphasizes how senseless this awful episode was, he continued.
In the meantime, drill rapper DD Osama, Osama’s brother, lamented about his loss on the TikTok channel What NYC Sounds Like. “I kept asking myself, ‘What if I stayed?’ He would actually be here today if I had just spent more time with him. He would be present right now if I had been present at the time.
He simply became involved in street life-related activities. He just so happened to follow a musical path that leads to the transformation of art into violence. He would have achieved great success if he had chosen the path of a pop singer or any other genre of art or music.
Just so happens, the music he chose to make ended up rewarding violence, according to Osama’s cousin Kelvin Ventura.
“His desire to pursue a career in music remained constant. He and his other brother have always entertained us at Christmas gatherings, singing, dancing, and performing, as far back as I can remember.
His life’s work was as an entertainer; he enjoyed music and dancing. He was a very content child, according to Osama’s other cousin Lily Ortega. He was a great lover. He cherished the time he spent with his family. We are delighted by the fact that it is clear that people genuinely admired him for who he was.
What did Notti Osama do?
According to reports, Osama and two of his friends were walking in Hamilton Heights when they spotted Martinez. Osama grabbed a broom and followed the accused into the subway station. They cornered him and hit him with the broom after which Martinez took out a knife and stabbed Osama in the abdomen.
Update regarding the stabbing incident
The Manhattan District Attorney’s office declared in October 2022 that all charges in the case had been dismissed because the prosecution could not refute Martinez’s claim that she had acted in self-defense.
According to a spokesman, the 15-year-old used his knife to defend himself when he confronted Osama, and as this cannot be disputed, the accusations were formally withdrawn. She continued by saying that the choice had been made based on witness testimonies and video surveillance.
