Williams began her career in acting on television with parts on programs including Room 222, Nanny and the Professor and Love, and American Style while studying theater alongside Sally Field.
Her big break came in 1973 when she was cast in George Lucas’ American Graffiti starring Ron Howard, Harrison Ford, and Richard Dreyfuss.
But one could argue that the start of her real ascent to fame came in 1975, when she made her debut as Shirley Feeney on ABC’s Happy Days. She went on a double date with Richie, played by Ron Howard, and Fonzie, played by Henry Winkler, as well as her on-screen best friend Laverne DeFazio, who was played by Marshall.
