Jim attended Agbado Model Primary School 1, Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria; He later graduated from Edokpolor Grammar School, Ebomisi Secondary School.

He holds a B.Sc in Accounting (University of Benin), an M.Sc in Accounting (University of Lagos), and a certification in Strategic Financial Analysis for Business Evaluation (Harvard University, USA).

Jim Obazee was the Chairman of the National Committee on Roadmap to the Adoption of International Financial Reporting Standards in Nigeria. He is the 29th Chairman of International Standards of Accounting and Reporting (ISAR) of the United Nations (UNCTAD-ISAR).

He was a member of the United Nations Consultative Group on Accounting by Small and Medium-sized Enterprises and the United Nations Consultative Group on Compliance Monitoring and Enforcement.

Obazee investigated the CBN during Sanusi Lamido Sanusi’s tenure and allegedly unearthed massive corruption.

It was upon his recommendation that former President Goodluck Jonathan suspended Sanusi in February 2014.

He has led major investigations in the central bank of Nigeria, Bank of Industry, zenith bank of Nigeria plc, GTbank Plc, and Access Bank Plc.

He is currently in the news after he was appointed by president Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a special investigator to probe the central bank of Nigeria.
