Neymar now the highest-paid footballer in France ahead of Messi and Mbappe
Brazil star Neymar has been revealed as the current most-paid footballer in France, gaping Lionel Messi with a staggering £41m-a-year salary. French publication L’Equipe have released estimates of monthly salaries across the country’s top tier.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side tops the list with the top 14 spots occupied by PSG players, indicating the gulf between his side and the rest of the league.
Neymar, who joined PSG from Barcelona for £198million in August 2017, is still the groups top earner, making about £3.4million a month before tax. This equals to an annual gross salary of just below £41m.
Making the second on the list is his club-mate Lionel Messi, who joined the club in the summer following his shocking exit from Barcelona. The 34-year-old world superstar, who was once the highest earner in world footballer, now earns about £34m at the French giants annually.
Kylian Mbappe, 23, who is in the final few months of his current contract, earns £22m-a-year.
Mbappe is expected to exit the club at the end of his contract, with Real Madrid the most likely team to sign him on a free.
