Deborah Oluwaseyi Joshua, known as Seyi Shay was born on December 21, 1985. She is a Nigerian-based, England-born singer, songwriter, and actress.
She wrote and produced three amazing songs for the popular Konami’s video game, Crime Life: Gang Wars (2005).

Seyi Shay Early Life
Seyi Shay is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oluwaseyi Odedere. She was born on December 21, 1985, in Tottenham, London.
Her mom is from the northern part of Nigeria, while her dad is from the west (Osun State, Nigeria).
Seyi Shay has three older siblings, two brothers and a sister.



Seyi Shay Education
Seyi Shay came to Nigeria with her mother when she was two. She went to the Command High School in Maryland, Lagos State before returning to London for her undergraduate studies.
She bagged a degree in Business Management from the University of East London and in Music from a local UK College.
She was an ardent member of her college choir, and she travelled around the world with the London Community Gospel Choir.

The music star started her journey into music at the age of six. She was motivated and supported by her late mother and also her siblings who are into different genres of music as well.
She performed for the first time in her school in London at the age of six, with the help of the school’s choir. When she turned 14, she performed for the London Community Gospel Choir (LCGC) in their worldwide voyage which embodied 13 cities in Japan.



In 2006, Seyi Shay formed a UK-based girl band called Boadicea and signed a record deal with No Apology. Sadly, the band separated two years after being formed.
She wrote and produced the soundtrack for the popular Konami Game, Crime Life. She wrote, You Will See for Mel C and White Lies for Rapper, ChipMunk.
Seyi Shay became the lead singer of the British Pop/RnB Girl Band after performing From Above with the band.
Seyi Shay has worked with numerous local and international stars in the music industry.

Seyi Shay returned to Nigeria a few months after Sound Sultan motivated her to return in 2011. When she arrived in Nigeria, she was introduced to popular Cecil Hammond, who signed her under the Flytime Music Label.
She released a single, Irawo, in 2012, which became a hit and amassed a huge number of airplay in Nigeria.
Later on, she left Flytime Music and signed an international record deal with Universal Island Records UK in July 2015, which distributed her music around the world.
As a superstar vocalist, Seyi Shay has collaborated with several artists. She was featured by Wizkid; In Love, Mr. Walz in Paradise, Praiz in For You, Yarinya in Amir, and more.

Seyi Shay Personal Life
In 2015, Seyi Shay established a charity organisation, which she named Shay A Ray of Hope. She established this due to her love for the girl-child. She partook in the UN campaign to empower women and collaborated with some entertainers in the remaking of the Spice Girls’ Wannabe video.
The music star obviously loves the girl child so much.
She sang a song to give hope to, and encourage breast cancer patients all over the world. The song was titled Because We Care. At the time, she was an ambassador for Genevieve Pink Ball Foundation.
