Teniola Apata is popularly known as Teni. She is also commonly called Teni the Entertainer or Teni Makanaki. It seems music runs in her family because she is the sister to the popular solo artist Niniola, who participated in the sixth season of Project Fame West Africa in 2013.
Not only is Teni a singer, she is also a rapper, songwriter, guitarist and drummer. She usually holds drumsticks or a guitar in most of her videos.

Teniola’s mother is from Ondo State. Teniola lost her dad at a young age. He was a retired Nigerian Brigadier. Her father, General S. O. Apata, was assassinated in the presence of his family on January 8, 1995. One of his legacies is Apata Memorial High School, a military-style private boarding school in Lagos, Nigeria.

Teniola was born on December 23, 1993. She started her journey into music at the early age of two. Having attended the Apata Memorial High School, Teni proceeded to obtain a degree in Business Administration from the American InterContinental University.

Having freestyled for years on her Instagram page, Teniola came into limelight after she dropped her song ‘Fargin’ in 2017. The track set the pace for her fame and landed her a record deal. From then on, Teni has released many amazing singles.
Her other breakthrough singles include “Askamaya”, “Case” and “Uyo Meyo”. “Askamaya” was ranked 15th on MTV Base’s year-end list of the Top 20 Hottest Naija Tracks of 2018.
Before she released Fargin, she dropped a song titled Amen as her debut single while she was with Shizzi’s Magic Fingers Records. However, she left the record label in 2017 and joined Dr Dolor Entertainment.

MARCH 2021: The year was blessed with another debut release from the talented singer. She titled this album WONDALAND. Teni won the award for the Most Promising Act to Watch at the 2018 Nigeria Entertainment Awards and the Rookie of the Year at the 2018 Headies Awards. She also won Best New Artist at the 2018 Soundcity MVP Awards Festival.
Teniola was listed on Premium Times’ list of the six Nigerian breakout stars, viral sensations of 2018.
Her song ‘Case’ was conferred Song of the Year by BET Awards. She also won the Best African Act award by MTV Europe Music Awards in 2019.
